For 2004, the Grand Cherokee gets a factory-installed DVD navigation system integrated into the radio. Columbia, Freedom and Special Edition trims are also new for 2004. All of these models incorporate subtle cosmetic touches and equipment upgrades. Additionally, each Columbia Edition Jeep comes with a complimentary Columbia parka.

Pros:
  • Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
Cons:
  • Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability, trucklike on-road handling.

So far with only 3000 miles, no problems to report. This is my 4th Jeep, 2nd Grand Cherokee, all with the excellent 4.0L inline 6. Best Engine in the Chrysler lineup since they stopped making the slant 6. Plenty of horsepower and the right combination of engine/transmission. I just wish it got better mileage. I have yet to get the advertised mileage of 16/21...Im averaging 14-15. Maybe it will get better as it breaks in.

  • Laredo vs. Special Edition - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my 3rd Cherokee in the last 3 years. My first two were Laredos and this is my first Special Edition Model and so far, I can say that I like this model. If youre curious about the difference, I can tell you that the Special Edition 2WD model has the body style of the Limited model, (about $10,000 more on the MSRP), but its interior features are that of the Laredo model. Ive been really content with my last Cherokee and decided to trade up to the Special Edition. You wont be dissapointed if you choose this model. The ride is incredibly smooth, handles great on the open highway, and the gas mileage is reasonable compared to other larger SUVs.

  • This Jeep Rocks! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Wife bought this as a surprise b-day present. Great surprise! Thought we were going to have to go smaller, but got a great deal and the Jeep has been great so far. Had it for about six weeks and took it on a 2600-mile trip to VA and back; performed like a champ and got 20 MPG with the 4.7L V8! Comfortable, roomy and looks terrific in Inferno Red Tint Pearlcoat. Easy to get into and out of. Looking forward to facing the challenges a Minnesota winter will throw at it. So far, so good - Im thrilled with my first Jeep!

Well, Ive only had it a week, and its our first Jeep but we love it! the only complaint is we have to take it in and get a new windshield put in it because the one that came in it has air bubbles in it... a little disappointed but nothing major and theyll give me something to drive while they do it. Other than that so far its great, drives wonderfully and I personally think the Grand Cherokee is still a sharp design and is one of the best looking SUVs on the road.

Runs great. Cuts through snow and slush like its not there, goes through the forest off road and up and down hills off road with total confidence. V8 has plenty of power & pickup.

  • Best Jeep Ive Owned - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I replaced a 1996 Grand Cherokee with this 2004 in Nov. 2003. I liked my old one, but this one is fantastic. It rides great, handles very fine and once I rid myself of the factory Goodyear tires (replaced with Michelin LTX MS), this Jeep will literally go anywhere I want to go. I absolutely LOVE IT!

  • Reliability Questionable - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have really loved owning my Grand Cherokee but every time I take it for an oil change it costs me money. Nothing seems to be covered under warranty. Hoping I didnt make a mistake.
